The RI Association of Home Inspectors (RIAHI) was formed by home inspectors who genuinely wanted to create a unity amongst local inspection companies. The primary goal of the group was to focus on continuing education in order to provide a comprehensive home inspection analysis for the consumer.
Through the years and continuing today we have speakers address the association on various topics such as Toxic Mold, Septic Systems, Wood Destroying Insects, Plumbing, Heating, Electrical, Central Air Conditioning, Roofing... and the list goes on.

One of our larger accomplishments is our relentless pursuit of meaningful licensing. After years of trials and tribulations, On July 1st, 2001 the RI Home Inspector Licensing Law was passed by the legislature and was signed by the governor. See our licensing page for more on this. Another impressive accomplishment is our input to the "Septic System Checkup", The RI Handbook For Inspection. This book is a guideline for inspecting septic systems in RI. Several of our members were instrumental in it's development. Authored by M. James Riordan, this instructional manual was published by the RI DEM in 1999.
